CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Ameet Zaverii, CEO & Co-founder, Get Set Learn.
The tech industry increasingly demands not just technical skills, but also strong soft skills. How do Get Set Learn’s programmes cultivate crucial abilities like critical thinking, communication, and collaboration, which are essential for leadership roles?
Whether learners today become engineers, artists, or entrepreneurs of tomorrow, some skills will always be essential. Problem-solving is a key skill—being able to think through challenges and come up with creative solutions is something everyone needs. Adaptability is just as important, especially in a world where things are changing so fast. The ability to roll with the punches, and pivot when necessary is a game-changer. And then there’s collaboration and communication—the ability to express ideas clearly and work well with others.
No matter what the learners choose as their career paths, these skills will help them thrive in any situation. Our programmes in STEAM & Robotics, entrepreneurship, life skills, and AI focus on future skill development for learners, integrate project-based learning and allow them to explore real-world solutions through individual and group projects, which are essential for leadership roles.
India’s startup ecosystem is booming. How does Get Set Learn specifically support young people with aspirations to find their own tech ventures, particularly in the AI space? Do you offer incubation programmes, mentorship, or networking opportunities?
To encourage entrepreneurship among young learners in K12, we need to create an environment where curiosity and creativity are celebrated. By introducing learners to new skills through our future skills initiatives, we encourage them to come up with ideas, prototype solutions, and refine them.
The Young Pioneers programme is a joint initiative by Get Set Learn and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. It provides a learning ecosystem and uses a holistic approach to teach learners in schools how to look at the world through an entrepreneurial lens. It provides a launchpad for learners in grades 7 to 10 to brainstorm business ideas and learn how to pitch them.
The programme integrates traditional coursebook learning with hands-on projects and expert-led classes with guest speakers such as startup founders, entrepreneurs, and industry experts with real-world entrepreneurial experience to inspire students and guide them through their projects. By embedding these experiences early, we can help young learners develop the entrepreneurial mindset they need to turn ideas into action.
Responsible AI development is crucial. How do your programmes address the ethical implications of AI, including bias, data privacy, and societal impact? Can you give a concrete example of how this is integrated into the curriculum?
By encouraging learners to explore the fundamentals of AI with the help of real-world case studies where they can learn about the societal impact of AI.
By exploring these concepts, learners in schools will be prepared to explore AI tools and
build simple applications and use them in a fair, transparent, and ethical manner. Our programmes emphasize human judgment and motivate them to think in an agnostic manner when designing and deploying projects using AI tools. This means encouraging students to learn without preconceived biases or assumptions.
The tech landscape is constantly evolving. What specific technologies or platforms (beyond basic programming) does Get Set Learn emphasize to ensure students are learning cutting-edge, industry-relevant skills in AI and related fields?NEP 2020 emphasizes the need for students to develop skills beyond just memorizing facts, and it’s great to see this shift toward holistic education. Schools can make this happen by weaving critical thinking and collaboration into everyday learning through technology-based, project-based activities.
At Get Set Learn, we empower learners with future-ready skills through hands-on programmes in AI, machine learning, robotics, entrepreneurship, and life skills. Our bootcamps enable students to develop skills such as leadership, team management, communication, and creativity. Introducing students to new-age immersive experiences, multimodal learning approaches, and hybrid models of learning helps them integrate diverse learning styles and foster holistic development.
There’s growing interest in using AI for social good. How does Get Set Learn encourage students to apply their tech knowledge to solve real-world problems and contribute to positive change?
AI has the potential to help tackle some of the world’s most challenging social problems. However, it is also well-known that AI tools and techniques can be misused, even if the tools were originally designed for social good.
At Get Set Learn, we believe that early exposure to technologies through AI-related projects and problem-solving activities should be integrated into the curriculum. We also believe that introducing students to SDG goals and mapping them to projects they are learning can enable learners to choose projects that solve or mitigate social or environmental issues. By encouraging students to identify real-world problems and devise AI-based solutions, we prepare them to better understand the applications of AI.
What kind of learning environment does Get Set Learn foster to encourage creativity, innovation, and a genuine passion for technology among young learners?
All our programmes emphasize the development of 21st-century skills, integrating the principles of NEP 2020 to prepare students for a rapidly changing world. This approach encourages learners to think creatively, adapt to new technologies, and work collaboratively while focusing on holistic development and experiential learning.
STEAM Innovators is a 10-month programme that enables learners to incorporate the concepts of science, arts, and design into their robotics projects with the help of multiple STEAM activities.
Young Pioneers is a 3-part entrepreneurship programme that focuses on helping learners craft new ideas, take risks, and develop essential skills for innovation and leadership.
With Get Set Learn’s immersive experiences, such as bringing the American Museum of Natural History’s Dinosaurs Among Us exhibit to India, we focus on learning through exposure to cutting-edge research and new experiences. By integrating industry visits, events, and interactive exhibits, we provide students with hands-on opportunities to engage with the latest innovations that are designed to foster 21st-century skills, making experiential learning the key outcome of every activity.
How does Get Set Learn measure the long-term success and impact of its programmes on students’ careers and contributions to the tech world?
At Get Set Learn, our focus is to enhance skill-based learning through our programmes, bootcamps, and immersions. We measure their learning outcomes through a combination of skill-based assessments, project completions, and performance reports, ensuring students demonstrate tangible growth in STEAM.
Our programmes align with NEP 2020, NCF, 21st-century skills, and SDG goals, fostering holistic development. We also offer certified teacher training to equip educators with the tools for modern learning, complete with lesson plans, scripts, and assessment rubrics.
Looking ahead, what are your predictions for the future of AI education, and how is Get Set Learn preparing students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead?
GenAI is developing at a breath-taking pace and will have a huge impact on learning in schools – for both learners and educators. Our focus at Get Set Learn is to offer a curriculum that will help learners build a solid foundation in the fundamentals of AI, and ultimately help them build their own AI projects.
